La fabrique des possibles

Par une amoureuse des livres, artisane - parmi d'autres - de la production de Terres de Trickster. 

Au départ, il y avait des mots, des histoires, des  contes, des rires, des images et des rêves.

Plus encore, se cachent derrière ces récits, des vies, des joies, des peines et surtout, des aînés, des femmes ou des hommes qui possèdent un savoir ou une mémoire sur leur communauté. Une envie de faire un lien avec les plus jeunes. Une fenêtre ouverte sur une culture, une langue, une histoire. Parfois oubliées. Mais jamais totalement disparues. Et que reprennent avec toute leur fougue et leur panache, la nouvelle génération, des artistes, jongleurs avec les mots, acrobates des virgules, magiciens de la prose.

Et puis les lettres ont rencontré le papier.

Rencontre non fortuite, orchestrée dans une cacophonie mélodieuse de cliquetis par une équipe de jeunes qu'on dit un peu fous. De l'encre, et des couleurs mélangées : noir, rouge, vert, gris. Du papier, plissé, froissé, tiraillé, déchiqueté. Arrivent alors le savoir, le partage, la pratique transmis par d'autres, des maîtres venus d'ailleurs. Et au fil des pages, chacun apprend quelque chose, pour mieux le transmettre à son tour. 1, puis 2, puis 3... le rythme frénétique n'est pas que dans l'impression. En 2, puis en 4, s'en viennent le pliage et l'assemblage. Jusqu'au point final.

Silence.

Ce sont les yeux qui parlent, qui écoutent, qui sentent, qui goûtent, qui lisent.

Les lettres défilent et, avec elles, tous ces mots, ces histoires, ces contes porteurs de sens.

En trois langues, parce que l'histoire ne commence pas en 1534, parce que les cultures vont au-delà d'une simple dualité française / anglaise, parce que ce recueil de contes illustre cette alchimie.

La rencontre à travers des mots d'Autochtones et non-Autochtones, de jeunes et d'Aînés, de savoirs et de savoir-faire, de plaisir et de travail, de récits et d'écrits. Évasion.

Que retenir ?

Le Trickster joue des tours, il n'est pas là où on le croit, il n'a pas la forme que l'on pense. Multiple et unique à la fois.

Ce n'est pas un simple recueil de contes autochtones.

C'est une aventure humaine, empreinte de confiance, de respect, d'ouverture et d'humilité.

Et finalement, c'est une grande émotion de pouvoir toucher ce livre, sentir l'encre encore fraîche, vibrer avec ces histoires qui s'animent à travers les dessins.

C'est aussi un frisson de joie en le parcourant autant par les mots choisis et la puissance des histoires chaleureusement transmises par les communautés que par la volonté et la persévérance de ces imprimeurs amoureux de mots et des livres.
