"Je règne sur le chaos"

Après trois séances de création en plein air, c'est avec beaucoup de fierté et de satisfaction que s'achève la première oeuvre de Voies du hasard, première résidence artistique à bord d'une nouvelle série de 5, avec le soutien de l'arrondissement de Ville-Marie!

Tout débute de façon très ludique, avec de petites voitures téléguidées sur lesquelles sont fixés minutieusement de gros feutres. Jani, Fred, Vinciane et Dorothée s'installent au square Emilie Gamelin, avec de larges supports de bois, (gracieusement donnés par Support Surface) et font rouler les micro bolides. La réaction des passants ne se fait pas attendre : en quoi cela consiste t il? quel est le but du jeu? Nous invitons petits et grands à s'emparer des commandes, à laisser leur trace sur le panneau. Certains ne se font pas prier, les yeux brillants d'une magie enfantine, d'autres plus sceptiques, regardent de loin avant de se laisser amadouer, irrésistiblement attirés par les éclats de rire qui émanent de l'oeuvre sur laquelle se produisent courses et collisions!

L'équipe prend le chemin du quartier latin, avant de terminer sa première séance de création au Centre d'Amitié Autochtone, où auront lieu les deux séances suivantes. La grande salle est pleine : enfants, jeunes parents, ainés, personnes en situation d'itinérance, intervenants, là encore la contagion fait son effet, et les cultures se mélangent. Gilbert sera ce soir là l'un des derniers participants, non content d'avoir trouvé un moyen d'imposer des traits qui se démarquent de la cartographie qui commence à se dessiner.

Le lendemain, nous installons notre atelier ponctuel devant le Centre. Ce jour là, Fred et ses coéquipiers animent une discusion autour des tracés, avec les passants : qu'y s'y dessine t il? Que lire dans ces lignes chaotiques, dans ces lignes de rencontre? Les avis divergent, et les participants sont invités à venir tracer au ruban adhésif leurs formes sur le panneau. On vote. C'est finalement un aigle qui jaillira du panneau, animal symbolique dans les traditions autochtones. On délimite les zones, on détermine les couleurs et, tandis que Fred jongle avec les teintes et décline des camaieux de bleus et de verts, débute le processus de colorisation.

Là encore, la foule est très métissée. Certains s'arrête quelques minutes, d'autres suivent le processus depuis la veille, recrutent des passants, leur expliquent le projet à leur façon. On jase, on fait connaissance, on se joue des tours, tout en apposant les couleurs sur la tête du volatile, bercés par le rythme des tambours que frappent les drumers dans le centre. Quelques touristes passent, sont invités à venir écouter, repartent ravis de leur découverte.

Jeudi, le soleil innonde le trottoir sur lequel nous reprenons le processus. Pas de temps à perdre, l'oeuvre s'achèvera dans quelques heures. On retrouve certains artistes de la veille, d'autres nouveaux, s'active des heures durant sur notre volatile, dont le plumage rougeoie chaque minute un peu plus. On cherche un titre, on refléchit sur ce qu'il adviendra de la toile, mais aussi de l'arrière plan. Faut il masquer les tracés? Laisser transparaitre le processus? Enfermer l'oiseau? Etudiants, travailleurs, musiciens, tout le monde a son mot à dire.

Des titres sont proposés : Je règne sur le Chaos, Un Aigle dans la Ville, le Barbouilleur ordonné... visiblement l'oeuvre inspire! Après réflexion, Danny, l'un des participant, trouve que l'aigle s'est effacé au profit d'un perroquet! Les discussions continuent sur nos réseaux sociaux!

Autour de ce symbole puissant et de quelques pinceaux, plus de 75 participants auront contribué en 3 jours à la réalisation de l'oeuvre.
