" C’est la vie d’être Innu, notre vie pour être Innu, la vie d’un voyage "

Pour la troisième année, le programme Trickster propose des ateliers de théâtre et de cirque dans la belle communauté innue de Mingan.

‘’ Je me réveille un beau matin sous la tente de mes ancêtres. Je vois un loup et mon cœur bat plus vite que le vent. ’’

En arrivant à Mingan sur la Côte-nord, la Maison de la Culture Innue nous accueille, pleine de promesses et de trésors culturels à partager. C’est autour d’un thé avec Rita Mestokosho que nous discutons du concept de transmission des savoirs. Elle-même écrivaine et poète reconnu, elle nous propose de stimuler la créativité des jeunes de la communauté sous forme d’un atelier d’écriture.

Rita nous présente alors Manon Nolin, une autre force tranquille de la communauté qui va publier un livre au mois de mai. C’est elle qui nous a guidés dans l’écriture lors d’un atelier riche en idées et qui a inspiré les jeunes à inventer une histoire propre à eux. Quelques extraits :  

‘’ Je suis allée à Nutshimit dans le bois, Nunushum est venu, il m’a enseigné ce que les Innus faisaient avant. ’’

 

‘’ Un pas de mocassin, sur la route du Teuikan, me chante les traces de mon grand-père. Petit fruit, petite baie, suis la route du boréal. Du Caribou, qui s’élance sur le lichen. ’’

‘’ À contre-courant, la mission est claire, l’eau est claire, et le poisson est habile. La force de l’eau nous transforme, et l’eau glisse sur ma peau. Mais parfois, pour un instant, je me laisse porter, et je vais là où la rivière me mène. Dans le sens du courant, parfois on va plus loin. ’’

 

‘’ Je suis né sur le territoire de mes ancêtres, à la recherche des traces de mes ancêtres. Je voudrais être vieux, et avoir voyagé avec eux. ’’  

À l’heure où on parle des problèmes rencontrés par les Premières-Nations presque quotidiennement dans les médias, il est important de dire qu’il y a aussi beaucoup de gens inspirants et forts dans les communautés. Ils ont une vie au quotidien, un humour fou et des langues vivantes. Leurs initiatives, leurs connaissances et leur fierté pour leur milieu montre le chemin pour l’avenir.
