Program context : 

The NCEP was born out of a need for Nunavik professionals to gather in a safe environment, dedicated to social development and community empowerment. This program aims to provide local consultation spaces within which, professionals and community members have access to personalized support, professional training and other thematic workshops.  Funded by ESUMA and made possible with the collaboration of each host community, the NCEP allows community members seeking to strengthen their collective leadership, to work together around a vision of change for their community.

The pilot project was launched in Kangiqsualujjuaq and was extremely well received. This inspired ESUMA to make the NCEP available to more communities across Nunavik. In order to help secure the sustainability of the project, we are working closely with Exeko to coordinate the development and deployment of the program in the region.

• Kangiqsualujjuaq (pilot) – since 2017
• Kuujjuarapik – since 2020

Become a NCEP Facilitator:

We are looking to hire NCEP facilitators with the experience, interests and availability required to join the teams scheduled to embark on exploratory visits to several Nunavik communities very shortly. Your mission will be to: 

• Listen and analyze the needs and interests expressed by the communities;
• Mobilize local professionals in consultation spaces;
• Facilitate thematic workshops and professional trainings;
• Provide personalized support;
• Value the development and implementation of local projects for and by the communities.

Roles and responsibilities 

• Be available to:
  • Undergo intensive paid training before traveling to Nunavik.
  • Leave for several 2 to 3 months stays in Nunavik over the next year.
• Quickly assimilate NCEP, including theoretical and experiential knowledge of the program’s practice, the history of the program, the socio-political realities of Nunavik, etc.
• Onsite:
  • Actively participate in the program and contributing to its co-development, including the design of tools, resources, content and workshops available to the program.
  • Develop relationships and enter in partnership with local actors in the communities.
  • Engage in research and continual evaluation of the program’s impact.
  • Design and conduct daily workshops and professional training for participants.

Required profile 

We are looking for candidates who have all or some of the following attributes:

• Interpersonal skills, and a dynamic and proactive personality;
• Proven experience in facilitation, professional training, coordination, organizational development and community mobilization;
• Knowledge and experiences of the socio-political realities of Nunavik;
• Ability to design and create "on the spot" content, tools and resources with a formal rendering (ex: toolkit, TOC, organization chart, organizational strategy, road map, etc.);
• Fluency in oral and written French and English. If possible, Inuktitut would be a major asset.
• Ability to work a team in close proximity with one or two colleagues over a long period (min 2 months);
• Other skills required: ability to analyze, synthesize, have autonomy, creativity, proactivity, collaboration, leadership, ability to mobilize, ease in the face of change and ability to adapt.

Recruitment and employment conditions

• Start as soon as possible;

• Contractual employment status including full-time commitments for several months and part-time between stays in Nunavik;
• Remuneration according to the salary policy in force;
• Competitive conditions including and combining remuneration at hourly rate and daily rate, per diem and distance allowance;
• Possibility of joining the group health insurance plan including telemedicine.
